CT Woman Under Protective Order Held In Double-Homicide, Police Say

Police arrested a Connecticut woman in connection with a double homicide.

Hartford County resident Harlee Swols, age 22, of Enfield, was charged with violation of a protective order after she was located at the scene of the double murder around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

According to Fox, officers were called to 17B Alden Ave. after receiving a 911 emergency call for a well-being check.

When they arrived, they found a victim in distress and made a forced entry into the second-floor apartment where they found a man and a woman with "significant trauma."

EMS pronounced the male victim, identified as James Samuel Bell, age 63, dead at the scene. 

The female victim, identified as Maryrose Riach, age 72,  was transported to Baystate Hospital where she died from her injuries, Fox said. 

Fox said Swols, who was prevented near the apartment under the order, was found inside the apartment and placed under arrest. 

She is being held on a $2 million bond.

The case is ongoing and additional charges are expected to be filed, Fox said
